Bt is my derby acronym…It stands for Blue T’sue~Na~Mi… Some of you will recognize the term Bacillus thuringiensis Aka: Bt, from the world of agriculture, organic farming and crop biotechnology. Although I have to admit it never dawned on anyone but myself, till a wise gentlemen from Washington D.C. came to visit the Big Island of Hawaii. Learn More on what Bt is here from Wikipedia. Hint its a soil dwelling bacteria that is commonly used by farmers as a bacterial pesticide. Learn More on what Bt is here from Wikipedia.
Blue T’ Sue Na~Mi
Can you imagine the looks I get when I tell people I love Roller Derby….Despite breaking my leg in two places about a year ago today, I still love derby. I knew I’d get hurt but never in my life did I think I would get seriously hurt. Now I’m 85% healed; the last bit is agonizing frustrating and slow. I’m Thankful it occurred, yet I would not wish it on my worst enemy or would I want to do it again. The experience itself was life changing, humbling and the most painful, frustrating experience of my entire life.
The injury itself caused my life to halt midweek, no advance notice, and I did not Pass Go or collect $200. The reality that I had just changed the entire course of my life was the most painful and eye opening experience I had to endure. It taught me patience, and it brought me full circle back to my life’s passion agriculture and being an advocate for food and farming in Hawaii. I will be forever grateful for the life events and fate that help me see my path so clearly.
Now the rest of the story….It is still being written for my path is written in sand versus concrete. I’m lucky enough to combine my vast skills, dreams and passions, and I get paid to do so…I’m Blessed of that I have no doubt; forever.
Thankfully and with Aloha Bt
